MacMillan Cancer Support

The Bean Shop collects for MacMillan Cancer Support continually in the George Street shop and are supporters of the World's Biggest Coffee Morning by hosting them ourselves and donating coffee to other organisations who are planning an event.

Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same.

It’s a huge goal. After all, more than one in three people will get cancer at some point in their lives. With treatments improving and the population ageing, more people are living with the illness than ever before – two million and counting. Reaching and supporting all of them will be a challenge, but we know our team can do it.

Macmillan will work tirelessly to make sure every single person who needs it gets support from nurses and therapists. To make sure they all receive help with money worries from our advisers. To get to the point where everyone with cancer knows know they can turn to us for a chat with someone who understands. To give people practical support with the everyday things. And to make sure they have access to expert cancer information they can trust.

World Vision

The Bean Shop has been sponsoring a child in India since 2006.  We have provided her and her community with schooling, schooling equipment, livestock and birthday and Christmas gifts.

World Vision - Our vision is of a world in which every child has the chance to live life to the full; where they are loved, protected and cared for, and enjoy good health and an education.

For this to become a reality, World Vision works alongside communities in close to 100 countries to bring about long-term change; giving children a voice in the places where decisions are made and responding quickly to the emergencies that affect more than 250 million people around the world each year. As they do this, they focus on three key areas: child protection, child health and emergency relief.

Closer to home

The Bean Shop regularly donates coffee either ready-brewed or as raffle prizes for coffee mornings, fundraisers, local schools, clubs and Perthshire based charities.  We are always willing to help those who work so hard for and give up their time to help those less fortunate in the community.  If you need us to help with your local charity event, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We often hand out cups of coffee to more vulnerable members of the community who regard The Bean Shop as a safe and friendly place. We feel it adds to the diversity of our business and often we can learn a lot by just giving a little bit of time and attention. This does not cost us much and is hugely rewarding as we can offer comfort in a small way to those who may need it most and we feel it adds to the community based spirit of our business.
